Tiny Planets is a computer-animated children's television series co-produced by Sesame Workshop and Pepper's Ghost Productions. The concept was created by the late Nina Elias-Bamberger at Sesame Workshop with character designs by Ed Taylor. The television series consists of 65 five-minute, dialogue-free episodes featuring two white-furred extraterrestrials travelling their universe and solving a specific problem each episode. Noggin's airings of the show featured extra narration to explain what's going on to the young audience.
Plot
Deep in the heart of the Tiny Universe lies the Home Planet where the main characters, Bing and Bong, make their home. These two explorers are catapulted to the surrounding worlds in their solar system on a flying white sofa where they explore, learn about the inhabitants, develop friendships and have fun.
History on Noggin
The show was shown on Noggin in the US for the first time ever on April 1, 2002. Initially, the 5-minute episodes were shown in between shows, but on April 5, 2004, Noggin created a 22-minute episode format for television runs with four of the shorts compiled in each of those episodes. Prior to this being released on television, four episodes of this format were first released on VHS and DVD on October 14th the previous year. This continued to air up until April 9, 2006 when Noggin lost the rights.
