When Noggin first started, its schedule was mostly filled with reruns from Sesame Workshop and Nickelodeon's archives. As a way to reuse old content in a new way, Noggin aired a variety of package series: collections of pre-existing footage, packaged together under a theme. For example, Noggin Boogie is a package series made up of old music videos.
For most of Noggin's package series, the only new elements made for them were their opening and ending sequences with the rest being acquired/archive footage. There is one exception: Sesame Street Unpaved, a collection of old Sesame Street episodes that had an exclusive documentary TV special of the same name made exclusively for Noggin. All other installments of Unpaved were made up of old footage.
