Nickelodeon is an entertainment brand and TV channel for kids. Along with Sesame Workshop, it was one of the two companies that co-founded and launched the Noggin channel. From mid-2002 onward, it was the sole owner of the channel.

Nickelodeon aired many Noggin shows on its main channel as a way to cross-promote them. Nickelodeon also aired a wide variety of shows from its archive library on Noggin, mainly as part of a block called "Nick Jr. on Noggin."

Noggin history

In the late 1990s, Nickelodeon was planning a network to air its educational programming to be titled "Big Orange." Instead of discarding the concept, Nickelodeon continued to expand upon the idea by adapting the project to meet new requirements for educational programs. In 1998, Nick and Sesame Workshop formed a partnership and planned a joint venture between the two called Noggin, named after a slang term for the head to reflect its purpose to educate.
