Noggin Wiki

Move to the Music is a package series that aired during commercial breaks on Noggin. It is a collection of music videos.

Most segments were pre-existing scenes from Nickelodeon's archive libraries, while others were pre-existing music videos from either singers or Moose and Zee. Probably the opening and ending animations were the only newly-made footage.

Description

From Noggin.com:

"NOGGIN'S Move to the Music features videos from Lisa Loeb, Dan Zanes and Noggin favorite Laurie Berkner. Catch your favorites every day between shows on Noggin, or view the full-length videos any time you want right here."

Goals

"NOGGIN’s Move To The Music is designed to support music as a universally respected component of early childhood education. From the Connected Learning philosophy, an effective music video will engage young viewers in the performance and support their rising awareness of the components of art -- enabling them to make and appreciate music throughout their lives. Effective early childhood music videos, including those by Lisa Loeb, Laurie Berkner, and Dan Zanes will strengthen preschoolers' understanding of music elements including rhythm, pitch, volume and pattern. By coordinating the visual and musical aspects of a recorded performance, the music videos on NOGGIN are crafted to address these goals."

Summary

The intro starts with a drum, a xylophone, and a trumpet making music. The logo appears on the drum's belly as Moose A. Moose announces the time to "Move to the Music." In the closing, a banjo walks up to the Noggin Logo, with a link to Noggin.com.

History

The segments aired from April 7, 2003 to September 2009. The same opening and closing (albeit with Nick Jr.'s name instead of Noggin's) aired from 2009 until 2010, when a new opening and closing were produced. The segment continued to air until Late March 2012 when it was replaced by Nickelodeon Music.

Notes

  • The segment shares its name with a Nick Jr. live tour from 2019.
  • The five notes in the beginning of the Noggin version are excluded in the Nick Jr. Channel version of this opening.
  • After Moose and Zee's retirement, Move to the Music aired on the Smart Place to Play a few times, but the intro got rid of Moose's voice saying "Now it's time to move to the music on Nick Jr."
