Jamarama

Jamarama was a "Lollapalooza"-like music festival for toddlers and preschoolers, convinced as a joint venture between Noggin and Highland Capital Partners in August 2005. It ran from October 2005 to late 2006, performing at many East Coast venues. Known performers included Laurie Berkner of Jack's Big Music Show, Milkshake, The Ohmies (who inspired the CBC show "The Moblees"), Dan Zanes, and walkaround versions of Moose A. Moose, Jack, and Miffy, who hosted karaoke, face-painting, and storytelling sessions during intermissions.[1]

Jamarama was created by Dana DuFine, whose daughter Emma watched the music videos in between shows on Noggin, and told her mother she would like to see all the artists who recorded the music videos.

Notes[]

  • The festival's slogan was "If you're old enough to walk, you're old enough to rock!"
  • The festival's bar served juice boxes.
  • Jamarama proved more popular for kids than other live events, such as ones featuring Mickey Mouse or Barney the Dinosaur.
  • Intermissions featured a Crayola coloring wall and a Miffy book area. There was also space for My Gym, a fitness center for toddlers that got its own show on BabyFirst.[2]
  • After Jamarama ended, a DVD featuring songs from the festival was released.
