Dora the Explorer is an American children's animated television series and Multimedia franchise created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh Valdes and Eric Weiner that premiered on Nickelodeon on August 14, 2000 until the last episode aired in 2019. The series is produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio. The show aired on Noggin because ViacomCBS's Nickelodeon owned it.
Plot
The series features the adventures of young Latina girl Dora (she speaks Spanish) and her monkey Boots, Backpack and other friends. In each episode, viewers join Dora on an adventure in an virtual world set inside a computer. The titular character seeks viewers' help in solving a puzzle or mystery she faces in each episode.
History on Noggin
The show joined Noggin on April 7th, 2003, the day Moose A. Moose and Zee took over hosting duties, replacing Allegra's Window. It was on the Nick Jr. on Noggin block. Its spin-off, Go, Diego, Go!, also aired on the channel.
The show left Noggin with a few other shows when the original Noggin channel closed on September 28, 2009. However, it continued to air on the Nick Jr. Channel until 2020. When Noggin came back as an app in 2015, the show was available to stream on it.
