Deja Noggin is a package series that aired during commercial breaks on Noggin. It is a collection of "deja vu flashbacks" to classic Sesame Street and The Electric Company episodes.

Like other package series, the segments were all pre-existing scenes from Sesame Workshop's archive library. The opening and ending animations were the only newly-made footage.

History

The opening and ending were animated by FableVision, an animation studio that also made some of Noggin's other promo materials. The segments aired from 1999 until March 31^st 2002.

During the early days of the Feetface era, the opening of Deja Noggin was used to open programs in the Cable in the Classroom block, though it was eventually replaced with a proper opening.

Format

Each short opens with an animated man in a suit and tie. He presses a button labeled "Deja Noggin" that turns him into a kid, transporting him back to his childhood when he first watched classic Sesame Street and The Electric Company. He says that he totally remembers the segments and is having a deja vu moment.

Transcript

Each installment uses this intro dialogue:

"Hmm. I totally remember this!"

However, there are two different outros. The first outro dialogue was first used from 1999 through 2000:

"What you've just experienced was Deja Noggin. Now that you remember, go to noggin.com and vote for your favorite classic clip. Your Noggin's Choice. And keep watching Noggin!"

Following the retirement of Your Noggin's Choice in 2001, the outro diolague changed to this:

"Whoa, deja vu... No, Deja Noggin! For more flashbacks of your favorite classic clips, keep watching Noggin! And keep watching Noggin! Did I just say that? Whoa, Deja Noggin."

Music

The opening uses the Sesame Street theme, the Electric Company theme, and a piece of background music called "Off the Shelf." The full track can be found below. The ending uses a different piece of background music called "Straight To The Top B." The full track can be found below.
